At the heart of every modern Electronic Parking Brake (EPB) system lies the brake caliper motor. Its primary application is the direct actuation of the parking brake mechanism within the caliper itself. Unlike traditional cable-operated handbrakes, this compact electric motor is meticulously integrated into the caliper body. When the driver engages the EPB via a button, the motor receives an electrical signal, initiating a rotational movement. This rotation is then translated by an internal gear set and screw mechanism into a linear force, pushing the caliper piston directly against the brake pads. This action firmly clamps the rotor, holding the vehicle stationary.
